It was love at first sight when Terry Maxfield spotted a Caspian Blue Mustang at Loudon Motors in Minerva, Ohio, back in 1965. Their affair lasted through five decades, countless memorable moments and a cross-country move to Arizona.
Recently, worried that the Mustang would deteriorate in her exposed carport, Terry had a great idea: She would return the vintage car to the dealership where she purchased it. Greg Loudon, who was only 5 when Terry bought the car from his father, was now in charge. Stunned at its incredible condition, Loudon purchased the Mustang back—but insists he’s just storing it for Terry. She’s allowed to visit the beloved showroom centerpiece whenever she likes.

Ford Engineer Paul Seredinski takes us on a tour behind the magic curtain to unveil the magic of EcoBoost engine technology.
EcoBoost engines began in the lab at Ford, originally planned as part of the ‘new’ Ford Performance line-up. Once proven out the engine tech was implemented throughout our vehicle line-up. So, how would having an EcoBoost engine affect your milk runs? It’s all about power, on demand…
Those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to drive it. Here are 10 reasons why the forward-thinking Ford F-150 continues to leave all other trucks in the dust.

High-strength, military grade, aluminum alloy sheet metal rides on the strongest F-150 frame ever. Together, they slash up to 700 pounds from the truck. Less weight in the truck allows more weight in the cargo box and on the trailer.
Other available innovations include:

• LED box lights brightly illuminate the bed
• A class-exclusive remote power tailgate release and side mirror-mounted spotlights to illuminate your worksite after the sun goes down

Tom Garcia of Marathon Truck Body shows off a 14' Dry Van Body mounted on an E350 Cutaway Chassis. Check out the Lift-Assist on the cargo ramp! Those things are heavy, but this feature sure makes it easy. Sometimes it is the simplest things that are meaningful, like that sliding door without rattles.
Since a Dry Van Body is just a box on wheels, there is so many modifications that can be made to make it more useful for individual company use, such as, side doors, walk-up side door openings, windows, translucent roof, E-Track, plywood lining, Gelcoat lining with added insulation for refrigeration to just keep things cool or to keep them frozen. Plus there is the ramp as shown, liftgates, railgates, swing-away doors rather than roll-up doors and the list goes on and on.
Paul Brown of Geweke Ford in Yuba City CA shows us what he calls, "the Big Boy" in commercial trucks. This is the Super Duty F-550 HD chassis with the payload upgrade to 19,500 lbs. GVWR, and GCWR tow maximum of 33,000 lbs. If you have heavy equipment and tow as well, this truck has the stuff. The body mounted on this chassis is a Scelzi 12' Combo Body. The Combo Body has a work platform on the rear that is the perfect height to work from in the field. A lot of contractors prefer the combo body for that very reason.
Paul Brown with Geweke Ford in Yuba City CA shows off a Service Body on a Ford Super Duty Chassis by Harbor Truck Bodies. This units has a 3-piece Cargo Bed Enclosure and Power Locking System, along with a Forklift Loadable Rack and Class IV Receiver. This is a great way to keep cargo out of sight and out of the weather too.
Getting a large payload into your truck can be hard, heavy work. Nothing’s going to change that. But it’s repetitive. So if you can make it easier to access the bed you can save your knees here, your arms there and at the end of the day you get more done.
You know what a truck pull is, right? Well our tow test is way better: our track extends 150 feet, climbs 13 feet in elevation, and has a maximum angle of approximately 16 degrees. Each competitor’s rig is tethered to 5-ton 6x6 weighing in at over 36,000 pounds. Each competitor is allowed one pull, no time limit. This event grabs competitor’s full attention, because it’s the first event and has the potential to quickly weed out weak components.
Through the years, the Frame Twister has evolved, and for 2015 about half way into the course, competitors arrive at the infamous Squeeze Rock section facing boulders, the dogleg, and the dreaded log section. In case you’re wondering, the Frame Twister at Top Truck Challenge really has twisted vehicle frames over the years. It has also wasted driveshafts, destroyed tires, and thrashed suspensions. Each competitor is allowed 10 minutes to complete the Frame Twister course. Hey, you didn’t expect it to be a run-of-the-mill first day did you?

I was delighted to see this very interesting truck body at Lehmer's Buick-GMC in Concord CA (http://www.LehmersGMC.com) recently. Having worked in the truck body business for 10 years, I used to see how long it would take to make a custom body, but most body companies have a line of standardized bodies that can be slightly modified to serve the client and get it done quickly. This truck is a perfect example of this concept.
It was originally a Contractor Body, which is a flatbed with a tapered headboard, upper body boxes with open top lids like a service body, underbed boxes, a load-divider board across the back of the upper bed boxes, short "contractor style" gates around the rear, a tapered HD rack and trailer receiver and trailer plug.
This truck has been converted into a pseudo-welder body in that these modifications have been done: 1. The upper bed boxes have closed top lids which allows for mounting of things on top such as a compressor, generator and more. 2. The box on the streetside is 6' instead of 8' and moved rearward to allow a 2' gated space for a welding machine. 3. Bottle brackets, rings and chains are mounted against the headboard on the curbside for welding bottles. 4. A diamond plate steel floor. 5. This unit has a class 5 receiver instead of the more common class 4. 6. The rack was not installed because this client wanted to build a custom rack themselves.
This client worked with Royal Truck Body to create this great modification and in the process saved themselves a lot of money over building a custom "one-up" body.
